New equine patients · Coweta, Oklahoma
Whatever brings you to Oak Grove for the first time — general health care, a difficult lameness, a growth that has you worried, a foal that needs attention, or the reproductive health of a mare or stallion — here is how the first visit works, at our place or at yours.
Haul in to us, or we’ll come to you — either way, your equine partner joins the Oak Grove family with a proper first visit and a plan.
At our facility here on Highway 51, you’ll find a horse-friendly place to land: a covered area to unload and load, and a facility set up to handle whatever may arise in the equine fashion. On a farm call, we arrive at your facility instead, get your new patient set up right there, and help in whatever fashion the situation calls for — a foal with an angular limb deformity, a lameness on your athlete, or anything in between.
There are a hundred reasons a horse needs a first visit. These are the doors most new patients walk through.
The everyday foundation — wellness exams, vaccinations, Coggins, deworming and a baseline for a horse that’s new to you or new to us.
The off-and-on, hard-to-pin-down lameness on your athlete — the kind that needs a real workup, not another wait-and-see. Bring us the puzzle.
An unfortunate growth, a wound, a swelling — any new situation that has come up and needs attention, an honest read, and a plan.
Foal illnesses, first checks, and legs that need watching — including angular limb deformities, where early attention changes everything. At the clinic or at your barn.
The reproductive health of a mare or a stallion — breeding soundness, problem mares, and a 30-year reproduction program that breeders across the country trust with their seasons.
Performance floats and wave mouth corrected on a plan — and for senior horses and mouths with abnormalities, dental care on a shorter clock, with multiple visits a year when the teeth call for it.
Records & history
When you book, tell us the doctor or facility your horse has seen before, if there is one. Then take whichever of these is easiest.
Coggins papers, registration papers, past records, a mare’s breeding history — whatever you’ve got in hand, bring it.
Just give us the previous doctor or facility, and we’ll request the records from them.
No history to send? We build the baseline here — exam, teeth, feet and soundness — and the record starts with us.
New patient setup
At our facility or yours — paperwork, baseline and plan, all started at the first visit.
Call 918-486-VETSThe OG plan & payment
Every first visit ends the same way: our official OG plan, put together with you and Dr. Ross around your equine partner. And paying for it is straightforward — we have access to CareCredit, we work with the major medical plans, and we take Visa, Mastercard and Discover, with touchless and remote pay.
Bringing a dog or cat instead? They get their own welcome — see the small-animal first visit.
